Epik SoftPhone

The epiknetworks Conferencing Application provides a key value-added service delivering hosted IP telephony services to business customers. It includes on-demand, group call and meet-me capabilities. The Conferencing Application is part of the award-winning GENBAND M6 Communication Applications Server application suite. Because the Conferencing Application is completely integrated with the epiknetworks administration and user interfaces, no time or effort is lost by end customers with integration issues.

On-Demand Conferencing

On-demand conferences, also known as N-way or ad-hoc conferences, are easily initiated during an existing call. To add additional participants to a call, the user simply pushes the telephone’s conference button, web portal or uses a flash-hook to bring in each additional participant. The number of allowed conferencing participants is controlled on a user-by-user basis. It can also be packaged for business conferencing, in which individual employees may be assigned their own conferencing maximum.
Subscribers can use the epik Web Portal to conference by clicking the conference icon, using directory entries, or by typing any nondirectory number into the on-screen call control interface.

Group Call

With the group call capability, system administrators can easily configure a group of numbers as a group call list. A user calls the dedicated group call number, enters a password, and the system calls all of the group call participants simultaneously.
Business users can take advantage of group call capability to conveniently connect with employees, alerting them to news, impromptu meetings, and other important information.

Meet-Me Conferencing

Business users can host professional meetings using the meet-me conferencing feature. It gives them the ability to directly set up a conference reservation and manage the conference once guests call in.

With meet-me conferencing, it is easy to set up a conference any time, anywhere. For users with access to the epik Web Portal, a hop on the Internet provides a user-friendly visual interface. This face of meet-me conferencing makes it a compelling, high-value user tool. The Web Portal interface makes it easy to reserve an available conference time, set up recurring conferences, and edit reservations. The “notify” feature allows users to email conference details to guests.

The “dial-out” tab enables a conference moderator to quickly bring guests into the conference without having to know the guest ID.

For a user without access to the Web Portal, a straightforward IVR phone interface walks a user through the conference setup and guides the user through each step, reading back the conference details and even showing the conference codes on the user’s phone display.

During a conference, meet-me conferencing provides an on-screen conference control window from the Web Portal, which makes it easy for the moderator to see all guests by name and to make conference
changes. The moderator can click to add ports, extend the conference time, play roll call, mute or acknowledge individual guests, drop guests, and lock the conference for security.

A guest version of this conference window enables guests with access to the Web Portal to participate on mute and to see participant names and “raise a hand” for moderator attention. Many of these conference control features are also available through DTMF commands for those without
Web Portal access.
