Epik SoftPhone

As broadband Internet access becomes prevalent in most metropolitan and suburban areas of developed countries, epiknetworks’ Total Voice Management clients expect to be able to use their phone service in a number of places—at home, in the office, when traveling, and even at the local coffee shop.

Mobile wireless phones can meet some of this demand. However, roaming charges in many countries make this an expensive proposition, leading mobile phone users to seek a more cost-effective way to communicate while traveling. In addition, most traveling VoIP users prefer not to carry a desk phone or IAD, no matter how small. Many users prefer to get telephone service from the same device they use for writing reports, watching TV, and listening to music—their PCs and laptop computers. Furthermore, low-priced video web cameras coupled with fast, high-performance PCs are making desktop-to-desktop video both practical and easy. Subscribers now want video as well as voice communications, and they expect their voice services operator to provide it.
